Welcome to visit the Laboratory of Biomechanics and Biomaterials! This research group was founded in the
summer of 2004 in Tsinghua University, and moved to Beijing Institute of Technology at the end of 2008. The research fields include the Mechanics of biological and biomimicking
materials, cellular mechanics, and molecular biomechanics. Our interests are the deformation, failure and response mechanisms of the biological systems and materials, focusing on
the relationship between functions/properties and structures.
Our vision is to develop new theories and methods in applied mechanics for studying biological systems and materials, and to find the mechanical principles in the design
of biological systems and materials for potential applications in man made novel systems and materials in materials science and biomedical engineering.
Our laboratory has close contact with national and international research groups, including those from Tsinghua University, Institute of Mechanics of CAS, Brown
University, Northwestern Universtiy, Columbia University, Georgia Institute of Technology, and CSIRO of Australia, etc.
